Skylar had expected the painted man who was to be the father of her second child to simply walk away, to accompany Sahin upon the beach and leave her there standing alone once more. So when he speaks, his words dropping like a bomb upon her Skylar is nothing short of stunned but it is quickly dissolved with a sense of anger.


“Respect?” Despite being a single word there was much to be said in the cold and deadly calm of her quiet voice. “You dare speak of my respect when you have stayed in the shadows since our first meeting despite me following your scent to each home you had decided to take?” Head raising and golden eyes narrowing angrily, Skylar’s black tail snapped from one side to the other in growing aggravation at the very thought of what he had said. “I have stayed within the confines of each place, carrying your children and raising them despite how easily it could kill me. Have you any idea how death tastes like Lyden? I do, I tasted it when Accalia was born and where were you and your support as a stallion should give? Nowhere.” A harsh snort blew from her nares at that and she turned from him to face the direction she had come, her ears flicking forward as she looked to the Peak within the distance.


“I had a home, a life before you, stallion. I did not need the male gender and I still do not. I chose to stay here because I thought you might be different despite the darkness that I saw in you and yet I am the one in the wrong, despite that I at least acknowledged your presence.” Ears pinning now, she looks over her shoulder at him with anger and hurt within those golden depths. “Only when you respect me Lyden and the things I do for you will I show it in return. Do not ask for it otherwise.”
