in a trail of fire I'll burn before you bury me

windblown wanderer
The day was hot. Hot hot hot. And for once Şahin didn’t want to frolic in the ocean. He’d spent the morning grazing through the heat but now, by mid-afternoon, he’d given up on eating entirely. It was hard to muster up an appetite when the sun was trying to punch through his skull and wrap him up in suffocating heat. The blanketed palomino made his way to one of the various pools that dotted Paradise, and was only mildly surprised to see the lanky palomino mare on the other side of it.

“I’m getting deja vu,” he said as he walked knee-deep into the water. There he knelt and rolled, cooling himself in the pool and splashing happily about on his back. He lay on his side for a bit, head extended toward the shore where the water would not invade his nostrils, before he lifted his neck and pointed his ears at the pretty Akhal-Teke across from him. “Remember this? Back in the Lagoon, dealing with pesky insects and the heat. Oof. At least in Paradise the mosquitos leave us alone while the sun’s out.” He heaved a great sigh and lay his head back down to listen to the water lap against his body.
