We have gotten calls from some of the people we are working with in the Western MA hilltowns that a gentleman is posting signs looking for sighting reports. This is fine, but apparently this gent was contacted, alleged that he had a lot of sighting info including tracks and video, but thus far has not shared any of it. This is making the researchers in the hills uncomfortable. In order to confirm a cougar, you have to have the resources and panels to vet the information, and submit scat for DNA, etc. It would be very nice if this individual would join forces with existing people doing serious research, that have the technical backing to vet and confirm them. This has been offered to the gentleman, but thus far he has refused to allow viewing of the alleged evidence. It is VERY appreciated that people on this board share their sightings and information. It is made available to anyone that is doing research. Replies: There have been no replies.
