Cream

The day was a beautiful one as the sun rose into the warm sky of summer. Colors were rich and the heat wasn’t as awful as Cream had expected. After the cold winds of Tinuvel for so long it was nice to finally be free of the thick hairs and once again own a nearly snow white pelt that was silky smooth. It made the dark hairs of her legs, face, mane and tail stand out starkly to a point she nearly looked foreign. But the mare enjoyed her different look but had yet to show it off, sticking to the outskirts of her new home where her stallion and family did not wander.


Cream wasn’t sure what had kept her away, some instinct in her mind that told her not to get too close. Whether it was past feelings that haunted her of being a wanderer she wasn’t sure, but instead of leaving like she had before she had simply hidden away in her stallion’s home. Safe and sound so that the babe within her swollen barrel would not be in harm’s way. But as of today Cream was no longer swollen and heavy. She had rid herself of that burden only days before and had enjoyed the time spent with the child after another difficult birth. It had left her tired and miserable, almost to a point she had called out to her lover to come and rescue the babe should she not make it. Why it was that the last two had pulled her down so hard the mare wasn’t quite sure but was nearly recovered now and was ready to rejoin the world.


Walking along a well-worn trail she knew Jabs had made during his patrols, Cream kept her pace slow so that her son may enjoy his explore of the new views he would see. She had still not called out for Jabs but knew without a doubt he would find them just as soon as he caught her scent on the breeze like a long lost love letter.
