Just an outline made of skin

The dark mare did not want to join him, and Xanti hoped that his words had not seemed forceful. His old herd use to tell him that the way he phrased things was sometimes unpleasant and demanding, even if he hadn't meant it. Grinning and rolling in the large oasis, he closed his eyes and let himself enjoy the sun on his belly and the water he was submerged in. He made sure not to open his eyes, lest he wanted to find out that his head was in the water. Rolling back onto his stomach, the stallion gave a light and happy neigh after shaking out his mane.

Xanti thought that he would never get enough of his home.

He flicked his ears and turned his head to focus on the dark mare, who was now laying down as well. Xanti lifted himself out of the water, dripping and soaked all around. The sun would dry it quickly, so he moved and laid next to the dark mare. Hopefully not too close, but close enough to touch if he stretched his neck far enough. "Nuh, there's another mare here." He said casually, an ear flicking to the side as he heard a dune shift slightly. An extra bit of sand flew through the air and scattered in different directions. Xanti didn't know what the mare's name was, so he decided in case the mare asked he should make one up for her. Sometime that would fit her bubbly personality would be nice, but he realized he would probably end up calling her Red, like a rare dune.

Rolling over to sprawl out on his side, the stallion let his eyes droop a bit. It had been a good day so far, but he didn't want to fall asleep on the mare if she wanted to talk. His tail flicked at an intruding fly before deciding to speak. "What's your home like? Or have you seen any interesting lands?" While he had no real proof that the mare wandered around and explored, he could only hope that she had been somewhere he hadn't, especially since he only really had been in sandy areas. He was at the main island for a few days, but he hardly remembered what happened. Xanti yawned as unnoticeably as he could, hoping he would not offend the mare if he drifted off.
