Just an outline made of skin

The red mare does not answer his question, and Xanti is left to see the mare slide down the sand dune again. The position looked unnatural and uncomfortable, but he could not help but strain his ears forward as he wonders what it feels like. Uncertain feet allowed him to prance lightly in place as he watched her part the sand with her rump and land at the bottom in a sitting position. The posture was more suited for a dog or cat, and the Sorraia could not help but give a small laugh. He did not know why he was so tense, the mare was at ease and he should be also.

Calming himself, the stallion stood still and let his ears not press so hard forward as the red approached him. The nip and bump to his muzzle got the stallion to move towards the dune, the spot now covered in a light speckling of sand. Swiftly ascending the dune and shifting his weight at the top, moving forward just a bit before pressing his weight onto his lower half as he tried to copy the other's stance. The sand shifted slightly beneath him and he attempted to press harder on his back legs. The sand shifted again and slowly began to glide him down the hill, picking up speed, making him wonder how he would get down without tumbling head over heels. His eyes closed slightly as the wind picked up and as sand was sprayed in his face, but in only a moment the ride was over. Xanti wasn't sure if he was still in the position he had been in at the top of if he had sprawled out on his haunches.

Picking himself up and feeling a grin slowly spread like butter across his face, the stallion didn't utter a word and instead whirled around and dug his hooves into the sand as he moved up the dune again. The feeling was nearly euphoric, and he was excited to try it again. Squatting into the position he was in earlier once he reached the top, more experienced on how to do it, and was soon sliding back down again. He used the speed to spring off the dune much too soon, flying through the air and landing unsteadily on his feet. Feeling gravity overtake him, the stallion tipped over and fell into the sand. His body pushed the grains away and some flew up to spray in all directions away from him. The grullo giggled and rolled onto his back, legs kicking at the air.

"That was fantastic! I've never done that before!" Sand was slowly being weaved into his mane and tail, his coat already gritty from the small specks. He rolled back onto his stomach and got up to trot around the red, his legs picking up high in the air. "Let's find a higher one, maybe it will be different!" He continued to circle widely around her, waiting for the mare to agree and lead the way or suggest something better.
