At our talk tonight, the Blandford Historical Society had some limited copies of a book titled "The Big Cats of Western Massachusetts", by Ralph Pomeroy. Ralph was legendary at tracking initially bobcats with his dogs. From 1948 to 1956, he had quite a few encounters with Cougars while out looking to track bobcats with his hounds at numerous locations in the Blandford to Worthington area. His book details the encounters with the huge cats in great detail. He measured and described the tracks, and had several visual encounters after his dogs tracked them. I had heard of this mini book when I was young, but until today, never saw a copy. We thank the Blandford Historical Society for helping find that book. Its noteworthy that the locations he mentions are at or very near many of the sighting in the last 30 years as well. Replies:
