The day was at full swing, the Fall sun reaching its peak into the sky. It was warm upon Chavez’s grey back, lulling him into a dose as he lazily plucked at the green tenders tucked beneath the tall yellowed stalks that brushed at his belly. Every so often he would raise his head, his green eyes sweeping the open grassland around him to see if there had been any changes. Blades of grass would be sticking from his nearly onyx lips as he chewed thoughtfully before swallowing and dropping his head back down to grab another bite.

As the day continued and Chavez finally became thirsty, the stallion raised his head and began to calmly trek towards the pool of water not too far away. The rolling land easily gathered water with its many hills and dips for run off to collect and with its plenty of open grassland, this place seemed nearly perfect for the stallion. The thought made a smirk curve his lips, a happiness settling in him that had never been there before as he pulled himself up one of the hills and came to a pause. Taking in the view that lay before him of the waving grass it was then that he spotted the mare as she stomped through his land.

Flicking one ear forward and one in back in confusion, Chavez wondered what had angered the mare into the aggression she was putting off. Curious and concerned the grey stallion let his voice ring through the air, a note of greeting echoing in his voice. It was there he stood and waited for her to change course and approach him with her problem.
