i went looking for trouble

For a moment Morrigan had imagined that her escape would be effortless; a respectable distance divides the pair before Warsaw pursues her. Whirling to meet his charge in a flurry of limbs, Morrigan braces to defend herself against the anticipated blows. A strained second passes as she glares defiantly at the grey stallion, tension transforming her into an onyx statue. Then the brute begins to speak, and an inexplicable burn of the same desire that had first drawn her to Warsaw thaws her frozen limbs, relaxes her rigid body. Morrigan's dark eyes, however, yield none of their secrets; her face remains expressionless, impassive as she contemplates obeying this command.

Her indecision lasts only a heartbeat - long enough for her gaze to meet his. Long enough for Morrigan to remember the fate that had befallen their son, and to wish the same for the stallion who had sired him. Who had abandoned them both. Envisioning Warsaw's bones scattered across the frozen by scavengers, the silver black mare turns away from him with a derisive snort, unmoved by the subtle threat that lies beneath his harsh voice.

"Watch me," the dark woman purrs in her sultry voice after she has presented her hindquarters to the brute once again. And then, without awaiting whatever empty words or forceful blows Warsaw intends to hurl at her in retribution, she scrambles up the rocky slope that forms a barrier between the Bay and the Inlet. Her dark form is soon consumed by the shadows cast by the ridges of rock, leaving only the patter of dislodged pebbles to mark her passage.
