He had managed to slip away from his brother yet again within the span of several weeks. Expertly slipping through the grasses of the meadow whilst Alusion screeched about being a pirate or something. It was a peculiar thing, being the youngest brother yet being so much more mature than he. It was he who thought where to den down, when to leave and when to stay. Even now he felt the way the air cooled, the way the leaves dulled, and he knew fall was around the corner. He knew that they would need to be diligent or this very well might be the winter they perished.
Paws still large for his body leads him to the crags, his gait cautious as he tries to secure better footing. Webbed eyes dart here and there, seeking an opening, anything that would suggest a cave lingered unsighted. A cave would be perfect as a dwelling during the winter, a place where they could stash their kills and anything else. Plus, it would be a nice place to build a nest, adding to the warmth. Tail lashes out behind him as he navigates, expression solemn until more scents parry about him, warring for his attention. It is the most concentrated concoction of scents ever and he ends up sneezing. And then again, his nose tingling with the force of the phenomena yet instead of wondering what could have drew them he precedes toward them. He is careful not to dislodge too many rocks as he scales a slight rise.
They are revealed to him. A great mass of bodies in varying stats of rest and attentiveness. The boy raises his snout, taking a deep breath of air in search of the tangy scent of blood. There is none, so that means there is no kill. What has brought them together? They could not be a pack for their scents did not hold that cohesive quality pack mates held. So what then? Settling upon his haunches he studies the group. Perhaps with time they will reveal their purpose and then he could either profit from such or continue in his search of a suitable home.
