I finally got away for my first eye trolling trip Saturday morning. Started fishing just after 6 am along outer edge of deep trough at south bank. Caught 3 eyes real quick, then no more for next couple hours. Channel cats were voracious, probably caught at least 15 of them. Also got 1 crappie and 1 smallmouth bass, never saw a white bass. Shad were rolling early then subsided. All fish were caught on an erie dearie and night crawler just above bottom. I would guess my speed at 2 mph, I saw other guys trolling and they were way faster than me. Best color was chartreuse/red, a custom painted lure. Kept 1 eye, the rest put back for later. Water looked nice, temp at surface showing 67, no wind at all. Got off the water around 9 as the weekend/holiday party boaters were starting to roll in (no offense). Good luck.
