Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

give nothing back

Though there are no perceptible changes to Rade's expression, he is impressed by the way the boy takes time to think things through. Despite his flawless appearance, the palomino is rife with imperfections - he has made plenty of impulsive decisions in his life, and paid dearly for his pride. But these same flaws form the foundation of Rade's strength. He is confident, fearless; he has weather the destruction of his entire world, and emerged stronger than ever. Not strong like the broad-bodied colt before him - his own features have a delicate, almost-feminine cast - but in a more spiritual sense. Rade has been bent, but never broken.

“The thieves? How to explain..” the stallion muses, his amber eyes probing the steadily-descending darkness of twilight. “Not every battle is determined by direct confrontation - and if we fought for every cause, there would be few of us left.” A chuckle rumbles in Rade's breast, and his gaze returns to the boy, gauging his response to this revelation. The subtleties of espionage were often lost to those who had been taught to rely on brute strength from their birth, but Kendry seemed clever enough to understand. “Thieves are the eyes and ears of the Lagoon. They search for an enemy's weakness, and have even been known to strike against them - but that is unusual, and often unnecessary. Why risk their bodies when they can break a rival by taking what he treasures most?”

Overhead, ominous clouds have begun to gather. Rade stirs as if emerging from slumber, shifting limbs that have long since gone numb. As the tiny pinpricks of pain begins to pass, Rade is filled with a restless energy, and prepares himself to depart. With a final glance at the pale, promising boy, the stallion strides into the shadows, letting one last offer fall from his lips. “When you are ready..seek me out. Then we will see how much strength you truly have.”
