On Tuesday 27 May, along with the usual suspects of Carden Alvar birds, I saw a Red-headed Woodpecker. The bird was far up on Wylie Rd at km 5.7 -from McNamee Rd. Years ago a pair use to nest there, but this is first time I have seen them again in this area. The bird was near the road near Bluebird box 33 - the south box, since there are two boxes marked 33!
The Carden Alvar is at its finest with most of the nesting birds on site and the Prairie smoke and Indian paintbrush in full bloom. Replies:
