There's still space in a number of great events this Saturday and Sunday, from Birding by Ear at 6:30 Saturday morning, to First Nations on the Plain on Sunday. You can join an expert to take a closer look at ferns or lichens, or to observe wildlife on North Bear Alvar or butterflies and dragonflies on Cameron Ranch. You can paddle Raven Lake or the Talbot River (bring your own vessel), or experience Bluebird Ranch or Cameron as habitat for birds, insects and plants. Registration info is online at www.cardennaturefestival.ca, or take your chances and come to the Carden Rec Centre on Lake Dalrymple Road where you can join an event for $10 if there's space. There's also a free fun fair with kids' events like birdhouse building and face painting, horse wagon rides, as well as craft vendors, a taxidermy exhibit (including a cougar!) and good food.
