MAKE A HARP OF FISHBONES

“there was no skillful workman...

One large figure was quickly joined by another and he tilted his head curiously, wondering what these creatures were. There is a calmness that passes between them and then it is suddenly replaced with such sudden movements his tiny brain can barely process what is going on. The first figure rushes over him, knocking his forelegs out from below him. His ears flicked back at her squeal which he protested with his own croaky squeal. The noise sounded unfamiliar in his ear and he wondered if it came from himself one of the creatures.

While things take a turn back towards calm, the boy decides the ground is no place to witness all of this. He pushed up slightly on his forelegs again then raised his hind unsteadily, his legs trying to create a wide base. Unfortunately, this attempt did not go well and he tumbled sideways into the first figure’s legs. He snorted in annoyance and then cooed happily when he realised the warmth was back. He liked her.

The combination of damp and cold caused him to lean into her efforts and move around so that she could reach the parts that had started to chill. In the midst of it, he found his feet and began to fling his head around enthusiastically – he’d done it! Wobbling, his gaze found the second figure again and he wondered what it had to offer, not that he cared. He had the best one all to himself! A smug smile tugged the corner of his lips though he began to wonder what the strange feeling in his belly was.
