Grai nodded. She seemed pleasant enough. Pleasant was good. His mother always had said that keeping company was a sure way to stave off the Voices. Grai had never heard Voices - even the one he was named for. He always counted this as an excellent thing. But it could not hurt to trust his mother’s words. After all, she had known just how weird she was. When she attempts to expand on her and Dogun’s partnership thing, she stumbled over the words.

Grai nodded rapidly at her suggestion to leave it as it was.

“Yeah, let’s do that,” He wanted to be rid of any strange images. Hopefully, being second would mean he got to keep his own mares and not have to help Dogun with any others. Assuming Grai managed to secure his own. He wasn’t too sure about that yet.

“Seems like there’s always lots of horses who find their way out here,” Grai said. “Both my folks came from… somewhere.” He shrugged. “Nothing quite like this place out there in the wide open. Least, not that I’ve ever seen.” She then seemed to darken a bit. Seemed like for her, wherever home was was full of unpleasant memories. Maybe everyone shared that idea.

She moved on to a new topic.

“We met at the Falls,” Grai said. He laughed a little. “You know, when I first saw him, I thought he was a mirage? I thought I had officially lost it. Never seen a horse like him before. Then we got to talking, one thing lead to another…” He shrugged. “And then I’m here. Pretty simple story.” He looked at Freya. “Your turn.”
