Vesti watched him. Something was definitely weighing heavy on his mind. Vesti took a few steps forward. He seemed fine, and fine was the answer he should have given. But everything else told her something was definitely amiss. Perhaps it wasn’t madness like it seemed to be in her blood. Perhaps it was some other emotion.

Rain certainly seems to bring out the worst in people. Shut up! That’s all you ever tell me to do anymore. Where’s the fun in that? Well then start talking about things of value. I do. You just don’t want to listen. With that Vesti decidedly turned her attention to the young stallion.

But it’s been… many, many years.” She’d been a desert horse for too long perhaps. She had arrived on the Crossing in mid spring, but she had not stayed there long.

She snorted and put the stallion out of her mind. He was long gone. She hadn’t seen or heard of him since the day when he had chosen the other mare and left her to rot in the Dunes. It was better that way. She kept her eyes locked on Orhan. She waited for him to continue.
