stop and stare midas

The falls had been my comfort zone for the week I had been here. Then I decided to seek out the place where Midas was residing this time around in the islands. Coming upon Atlantis, his scent was heavy in the direction of the ridge, thus, that was where I was headed when the first pains started, making me catch my breath and heave as I felt the muscles of my abdomen contract and relax. Well, I guess my little bundle wasn’t waiting until we found his/her father before making a grand entrance. I moved until I found the old remains of what had been the oasis, and it was there that my little gem was born. Bright, nearly a cream color, yet her legs were barred like mine, as were her neck, dorsal, and ears. She was a perfect mix of Midas and myself, a perfect little angel. She had a partial white face, bright, vivid hazel eyes, and boy, she was a perfect dunalino shade.

I was Adelae, and she, was Inessa. A perfect pair. I was dark, a plain old grullo, every dun marking you can imagine, and she was so light compared to me, but it was a perfect match. We stayed within the oasis for a few hours, letting Inessa begin to find her legs, to nurse, and to explore just enough to get her strength within her legs, then we began our journey in the direction of the Ridge. There were plenty of rocks within that herdland, and I was determined to make it easier on my little angel, we would find a sloped entrance instead of a rocky incline.

The trees were thick, and seemed endless until I came upon a small clearing, and the scent of Midas, accompanied by many other scents came on quite strong. I didn’t know if this was his land, or if this was just where he was for now. I knew nothing, but I was determined for Midas to meet his daughter. We had ran into each other outside of the islands, and well, that was where Inessa had been conceived. He had spoken of returning, and well I agreed to come with. It had been a few years but I felt like in my heart it was home, I had been born there, and I should perish there as well, whenever my time came.

I entered the ridge slowly, the little dun girl at my side as we ventured within the border. A call for Midas raised from my vocals, casting out across the land. It was only a matter of time now.
