Why was it that dad was never around? Mom has been more present as of late, though Sanguine would have never known any different, she had never witnessed Naamah's lack of commitment or inattentiveness to what should be considered her family; Samil. Her children had never been here during the times where she would not come back to the den for days on end - they knew of no such mother. But their dad.. he was a completely different story. He was always out somewhere and leaving the two girls to be with Naamah and when he would come home, their mother didn't seem all too pleased sometimes.
Yet Sanguine's young mind could not wrap around the complexities of her parent's relationship, much less the fact that this other dude kept hanging around from time to time. Who
was he anyway?
Throwing away all of those stupid adult problems, she continued on about her daily pup life, finding bugs to snatch and shadows to chase. The grotto had so many interesting things to discover, she was glad that this was her home. Every now and then a strange scent would waft in from the outer tunnels that so many others seemed to traverse and the girl could not hold back the curiosity that pulled at her to visit them, yet Naamah did not want either of them to do such dangerous things. She said that they were still to small and fragile to handle the beasts that tread in the outside world. Sanguine thought differently.
Perhaps the birth of two such amazing creatures drained a lot out of Naamah for the first few weeks, or maybe it was the fact that they drove her to madness on the daily, but Sanguine took the moments that their mother napped to sneak away into the labyrinth that surrounded their little hidden cove. Tiny paws carried her petite figure from the confines of the darkened den and into a hall just around the crag that hid their home from sight. It was midday and her mother was not due to awaken any time soon, so she followed her nose further out into the cavern where sunlight filtered through small cracks in the ceiling.
