The stone was taken from her. She was enraged by it and wanted nothing more than to snatch it back. Without contact with the stone the pull of it was so much weaker, the feeling of magic so much weaker. She wanted it back! It.. he had to give it back. The magic couldn't just leave like that. In another minute she would have gone after it but then Wefios was there, his big head against one of her hands, breathing into them and keeping them grounded. The fairy pet his head compulsively, staring at the stone and the man who held it. Which one held more fascination? Blue eyes in a pale face, dark shadows on a deep cut stone. He was smiling at her, the stone was calling to her. Beneath it all was the feel of Wefios' fur and the warmth beneath it. He kept smiling at her and she smiled back without knowing it, switching her attention between his face and the stone.

He mentioned food and drink and a nurse for Wefios but it was the stone that made her follow him. The inside of the castle was dark and cramped and too full of people but she pushed that aside to follow him through doors that were just large enough for Wefios. They had done this before – the halls barely fit him, turning around was impossible, but he was able to follow his fairy. With the stone out of sight it was easier for her to turn her mind to the sparks that flew from the candles and the colors that adorned the castle walls. It was a pretty enough house but it was too small and not being able to walk next to Wefios made it seem even smaller. The fairy hugged herself instead, hoping they would end up somewhere that was bigger than the hallway. They passed a lot of rooms and some were full of things so shiny she tried to walk into them but Wefios stopped her with a huff when he ran into her. After the third time he spoke up.

We need to either stop in the next room or I swear I'm walking over you next time.

The girl giggled at that. He wouldn't run over her! That was just him being grumpy. And the next room was even better! It was full of shiny things, full of pretty things that sparkled under candlelight and she stopped despite Wefios' promise to run over her to look at them and she squealed in shock when he did run into him and knocked her to one side and kept on walking. For a minute she stared after him before yelling his name and leaping onto his back. It was hard with the ceiling but she managed to do it without hurting herself even though Wefios stumbled a bit then muttered that she was an idiot. It was too crowded to ride comfortably so she slid back off and walked behind him but not too close because when he was this irritated he was likely to try to kick at her to make her go back or fall down or away so she would stop bothering him so much.

What food do you have here? Big places usually have lots of food. Lots of good food. But also lots of people...,” she trailed off here, thinking of all the people that had to be here. Too many people in one place! How could they all live here crowded together like flies? It was worse than flies – they could go away, fly up and down and find room. You couldn't fly in a castle. Well she couldn't fly at all because her wing was broken but no one else could fly either because you hit walls and ceilings and blocks no matter what you did. Except she could fly through them. If she could fly. If the magic came back. Anyway, they finally reached a room and that was good because she was about to turn around and run out of the castle even if he had the stone in his hand.

The room wasn't big enough. Most rooms weren't. It was large enough for two people and one mule to be in with enough space for all but despite that Ree looked around the walls and blinked at them like they'd go away. It was easier to pretend they weren't there when she was able to go through the walls but now she couldn't but he was in there with them so she looked at Mordred instead of the walls. And there would be food! The red-head was always up food food, though Wefios cared more about something for his shoulder than any food. That his fairy was that interested in food despite the fact that she'd had a good breakfast was worrisome, though it had been a long run. The way she was staring at the fairy was also worrisome, though he trusted that nothing would happen. Reece was his. No matter how nice his smile or how inviting he seemed. Meanwhile, Ree forgot about the fact that she was stuck in here and went from area to area to investigate, pulling out drawers and peeking behind anything not nailed behind to see what this room really was.
