Mera was lost and she didn’t know how to be found.

The girl -no, young woman- had become unsettled after meeting the buckskin stallion in the Crossing. Once returned to Paradise she had a brief visit with her mother, keeping the man from her version of the trip. Instead she had spoken of all the grass and the falling water and the race across the hard packed land with her father. After Xina had seemed satisfied with her daughter’s experience Mera had set off for the part of the Island that had once been the Shore.

Though she wasn’t quite sure exactly where it was Mera had a general direction and that was good enough. The buckskin knew that the land would keep its secrets from her, not telling her the story of her mother and the seaweed man but perhaps it would settle her mind to walk those sands and for a different scenery to fill her vision and mind. With so much solitude and quiet it was easy for the roan vixen to lose track of time without the drastic change in seasons and only when her loneliness got the better of her did she return to Paradise.

As she walked the beach, her head tilting slightly towards the side to watch the waves come crashing in she still felt the tug to leap in. Now that she was bigger Mera did not worry about being drug out to sea like Sahin had warned her so many times and after a quick glance around she spun and launched herself into the water. With a squeal she lashed out her dark legs to meet an oncoming wave which sent the salty water flying into the air to splash against her chest and face. Giving a buck she turned and began to run along the beach but keeping inside of the water. The crystalline droplets flew through the air around her and Mera felt her heart sore from the rush of adrenaline. If only she had someone to share in her fun it would make it all the more memorable.

Just as the thought crossed her mind her eyes spotted Sahin in the distance. Letting out a call she turned out of the water so that she could gallop across the sand. Only as she neared him did she come to a halt, raising herself into a playful half rear before landing back onto the tan grains of earth. Eyes filled with happiness it seemed to make her now mature body glow with life. “Father, I’m so glad to see you.” She said cheerfully, ear ears tipped towards him hoping that he too was glad to see her.
