Xanti listened to the stallion with his ears pushed forward, trying not notice how riveted the red's attention was on the stranger. He managed to keep a grin on his face, wondering if perhaps he had mistaken her almost overly-friendly manner to be unique to himself. The grullo was unsure of how to respond to the stranger's words. He was better with direct questions, but if he was right the stallion wished to see if he could make the Dunes his new home. The red responded before Xanti could even open his mouth to reply.

The red's choice of name stopped Xanti short and he let his grin fall to a large smile. Although he and the red had never traded names before, he was not prepared to be known as 'that guy.' At his old home the horses had referred to each other by their colors and names were rarely used. Names were not given as a greeting, names were not needed. Rarely did anyone need to mention something about another horse and when they did so they would describe the horse or point at them with their muzzle. Xanti had been one of the few to leave the territory that had multiple herds in it to go and find a more peaceful place. Xanti knew of no one but himself who had left their breed land entirely.

Xanti let a half-grin return and tried to push the matter from his mind. What the red did should not concern him and he would rather she did what she wanted than feel tied down by him. "There is more than enough room here for you and your friend to stay. It would be nice to have the company." The grullo fell silent as he captured the names and linked them up to each horse. He let his eyes linger on the red to make sure he remembered her name. He was afraid he would not see her again if Dexter left. His eyes switched back to the other stallion with a wider grin before introducing himself. "Xanti." The broad-nosed stallion still could not get over how important names seemed to be on these Islands.
