The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.

Vesti

You should probably tell them they will kill themselves if they aren’t careful,

“Or I could just wait for them to realize it,” Vesti snorted.

You won’t. You’re too nice.

“I’m a survivor, survivors don’t get to be nice

You have a home now. You’re softening.

The sorrel blended almost perfectly in the shadow of a dune. Her sun kissed hair fell across her thin, shining coat and muscled body. She was a desert horse - a horse who had been on Salem longer than anywhere else in this wide world. Why she was this close to the Sea was a question. But she had decided it was a nice enough afternoon that as the shadows lengthened she could take a trot away from the Oasis. She had seen the two strangers wash up, seemingly ignorant about the dangers of Salem. All the islands might have their difficulties, but Salem could kill in a day.

You should tell them,

Vesti snorted. She tossed her head a bit but finally decided to oblige the Voice. It was right in this case. The two were racing around at a ridiculous rate for the time of day. The times of playing and galloping were at night, when Salem came alive. She trots out of her shadowy hiding spot and towards the two who have come. She sees the stallion looking around, either for other horses or enemies most likely.

“The desert’s enemies are not seen from the tops of the dunes,” She called up. She scaled the dune with practiced ease, navigating the shifting sands like she owned them. Or maybe they owned her. “The only enemy you can see by keeping your head up is the one that beats on your backs.” She took a position not too close, but her presence was now known.

You sound old,

Vesti looked at the two strangers. She was debating taking them back to the Oasis or if she should tell them to be on their way. It wasn’t like they could find their way through what remained of the Hills and Badlands. Or maybe they hadn’t traveled too far and could make it to Atlantis or the other island Vesti could sometimes see on the Horizon.
