The silver ess followed her brother into the water, splashing in besides him. She often forgot, in times like this, that they had grown up so differently. She didn’t realize that the brute may not understand what it was she was trying to do when she playfully splashed him in the water after his form rose. She remembered many times when Adara and their other brother, Rohan, had played. Play fighting in the dirt, tracking small prey in the trees, and splashing about in the water. She often forgot that Aindreas was forced to grow up on his own, without a friend or playmate. A thought that made the femme very upset, but it seemed to slip her mind for a moment as she followed her brother, thinking that she just wanted them to have a good time. So when the femme splashed and played with her brother she was surprised to see a frown appear on his white maw. Had she done something wrong? Had she somehow offended him? She paused her actions for a moment, confusion showing in her bright blue artics, wondering what it was that was causing Aindreas to be unhappy. She was relieved though to see that her brother had a very rare smile on his kissers after a moment, and she knew that he had caught on to what it was that she was trying to do.
Adara let out a laugh as she swam with her brother, noticing that he did not splash her or shove her back as she expected he would. She was not sure why but she guessed it had something to do with his gentlemanly ways and not wanting to hurt her in anyway, as she was smaller than him. "I won't break you know. I'm not as fragile as I seem." she spoke playfully to him as they swam. As the two became soaked to the bone they began to exit the stream together, shaking out their thick coats to dry off. Adara noticed that the stoic mask that the brute so often wore was back upon his face and she wondered if he would ever become completely comfortable around her, comfortable enough to just be himself. But she began to wonder if this was really his true self, as he had grown up alone and not knowing how to play and interact, and she grew sad once more, wishing that she could have been there for him when they were much younger. The silver femme noticed Aindreas step a few feet away to shake out his white pelt, so as not to get her wet again, and she smiled at him in appreciation for the small gesture. She thought it very interesting that he was so courteous of others when so many had wronged him.
The siblings began a quiet conversation after a few moments, talking about the new pack that they had to call home, the first pack that Adara had ever belonged to. Her cranium cocked to the side in curiosity as she waited to see what he would say, if he was okay answering her questions, “I cannot say that I know another in the pack as I know you, though in fact there is much I know not of you. But I have met others while patrolling. Senya, Bree, and the sisters that are so opposite – Lady and Nymeria. I am surprised I have had the occasion while you have not. You should make friends, Adara. You have the ability naturally while I merely stand watch.” She nodded in agreement, it was just the facts that she was more social in him, but there was nothing wrong in the behavior of either of the two. It was true that there was still much he did not know about her. Did he know that every night she thought of how poorly Aindreas had been treated and how she wanted to do something, anything to make it up to him? How it haunted her that she had not been there for him until very recently, how much she had wronged him. Did he know how much she missed their mother? How she had never been away from her for this long. How much she missed Rohan, who had never been away from her side for more than a day or two, and now he was gone forever. How she felt like they had a broken family that would never be whole again. Pain filled her blue pools for a moment, and she quickly looked away, hoping that he would not pick up on the emotions that were swirling through her mind.
The white brujo shook out his fur once more and then sat down beside the silver femme as he continued to speak, one of the longest speeches that Adara had heard from him, “Striker seems like a better leader to follow than my previous master, at least for the moment. Time will prove it one way or another. All that we can do is follow the one law that we must never break – loyalty. As for the pack itself, I have never really had a place to call home, so one pack is as good as another.” A small smile appeared upon his face before he turned his head away. What could he be smiling so secretly about? The words shocked her, hadn’t he been able to call Munashii Gekko home? What had happened there that had caused him to leave? Normally she would not ask but they were having a good conversation and she decided now was a good a time as ever to ask more about him, ”And what are you smiling about now?” She said playfully before asking what she was really thinking, ”Why did you not call Munashii Gekko home? Weren’t you there for a long time? I know I don’t usually ask but…I feel like the only way to truly get to know each other, to become close, is to be honest with each other. I understand though if you’d prefer not to talk about it and I’m sorry for prying. I just want you to trust me Aindreas, I’ll never leave you like everyone else has. I promise you that.” She had not planned on saying so much, but the words tumbled out of her maw before she could stop them. The words that she had been keeping locked her mind had finally come out. Her blue orbs met his matching ones, hoping that he would believe her, would know the truth in her words as she sat silently by his side now, waiting anxiously to see how he would react.
