a lover sinking in the sea

and the birds will sing our song in halcyon

Freya frowns to herself as Silver lays down, obviously in a great amount of pain. At first, Freya doesn't realize what's going on. When she notices how Silver strains and pushes, as if trying to force something out, she finally figures it out. Stepping forward, she lowers her head, touhing her lips to Silver's neck. As her body trembles and her sides heave, Freya murmurs softly to the mare, shushing her softly if she gets too worked up. She stands over the snowy mare, grooming her mane gently and hoping that it will have some sort of positive effect. She has never actually experienced something like this before - she is unsure as to whether or not she is doing the right thing. She sincerely hopes so.

It seems as soon as everything began, it ends. Silver is stirring beneath her, and Freya steps back to allow her some room, her blue eyes flicking towards the small, wet bundle at the larger mare's hooves. A smile flits its way across her lips, though she does not speak or say anything in this moment - it would be wrong. Instead, she simply watches, smiling to herself all the while.

Then, Silver speaks. Her son's name falls from her lips. Bastian. It is a nice name. Freya opens her mouth to say something, but is distracted by Dogun's approach. He offers her a brief touch before he moves his attention to Silver, and the dun mare simply observes their interactions. "You should be proud," the small king says, and Freya agrees. She knows not all are lucky enough to survive childbirth and give birth to a perfectly healthy child. For a brief moment, her mind wanders to Macabre... something about her son had seemed off. Shaking her head, Freya pushes the disturbing thought away. She couldn't be thinking about that at a time like this.

((ooc: sorry this is so late and so crappy!))
