Harlequin was still getting used to her newfound freedom. Although she was not quite a year old yet, mother had loosened her grip on the little two toned filly a good bit. No longer did she find herself looking up at her mother's beautiful and yet disapproving face when the silvery mare finally managed to uncover Harlequin from wherever it was the girl found herself. Most of the time, she could be found wandering along the shores of the Bay, exploring each nook and cranny. The seals and otters were most intriguing to her. Mother had taken her to see them once her twice when she was younger but Harlequin found she never tired from their playful antics. It was here where Soljor found her today, watching with wide eyed delight as a pair of otters seemed to play a game that quite resembled a form of tag. The larger of the two had found a shell or rock, from the distance Harlequin could not be quite sure which it truly was. But they would constantly go back and forth, flipping over and under the bed of sea kelp that grew year round in the sheltered Bay harbor.

So enraptured in observing the game, Harlequin did not hear her father approach... not until his booming voice startled her into what was occurring around her. Despite herself the little black and white filly jumped, her four legs seeming to all decide to run off in four different directions which resulted in her going absolutely no where but the original graceful beauty in which she tried to imagine herself to always be was a complete loss. Paper thin nostrils flare wide as she jerks her head around to focus on the source of the sound and to her own delight she saw the all familiar form of her father. Although she had only truly met him once, or so mother told her because truthfully she didn't remember the day of her birth, just knew that she knew who he was. She had watched him from the safety of mother's side as a youngster, watched as he laboriously patrolled the borders and occasionally chased the fleeting gray forms of what mother called wolves when they came close. She had seen Stardust following him around from time to time and debating about joining her half sister but always the timidity in her nature won out and for whatever reason it was that kept mother distant from him, also grew to her father. But here he was, his dark eyes gentle and a soft smile on his face as he inquired as to what she was doing, his attention focused completely on her for the time being. The thought itself brought a broad smile to her blackened lips and a distinct twinkle to her gentle brown eyes. "Daddy!" she purrs excitedly, turning to brush her black and white pelt against his side, her black muzzle nuzzling his shoulder as she angled her body alongside his broad form. "Just watching the otters in the kelp bed... they are funny if you watch them long enough." she states rather matter of factly, turning her intelligent gaze back to the duel that seemed completely oblivious to father and daughter standing side by side on the shores. "What about you? Are the wolves gone? What did they look like? Mother wouldn't let me get close enough to see myself... I wanted to chase them too" she babbled, unable to control her excitement any longer.
