STARdust

Stardust had been trotting about. Harlequin was back at the beach doing stuff. Luana was still stuck to her mother’s side. Sometimes, it was hard to be the oldest. Other mares think you’re too big to play with your own siblings. She was distinctly heavier than siblings. Maybe that was why. She shook her head, looking around. She spotted her mother break away from the herd.

That was weird.

Stardust decided she would follow. If it was that interesting to her mother, then Stardust figured it would be interesting for her too. She cantered after the bay mare as she crossed her dad’s territory and into the Inlet. Stardust paused for a minute. Then she snorted and pushed forward.

Finally her mother let out a call. Stardust was curious. She remembered Freya announcing herself similarly. Maybe that’s what they were supposed to do? She snorted and finally decided to let her mother know she had followed.

“Mamma! Mom!” She called out. She kicked up her heels and increased her pace. “Mom! Wait up!” Finally she caught up to her mother. Stardust was still smaller, but while she shared her father’s coat, she had inherited her face from her mother. “What’s going on? Why are we over here?” Yes, she acted as if she had been invited on this little excursion.
