Vesti
Well played, Vesti ignored the Voice. Sometimes, sharing your weights was just that. It had felt good to release it a little. Though, if Orhan disappeared, she would be forced to shoulder it alone again. It didn’t matter for the time being. She offered Orhan a smile.
“Thanks, Orhan,” Vesti offered him a nuzzle. Oh yes, thanks so much. If the Voice had a body, Vesti felt like it might have rolled its eyes there. She alone could hear the sarcasm though. It was only her. “maybe one day. But not in the near future.”
Though, perhaps the Sea wouldn’t claim an innocent in its desire to retake her. I doubt it. Just another soul for it. You don’t know that. But neither do you. What you do know is the Sea will take you next time. Vesti did not want to believe that. She would like to believe that she might be able to see another island one day.
In the meantime, she would content herself with her little desert home. And with the horses inside it. Maybe she wouldn’t have to be alone any longer. Hope is a dangerous thing, Vesti. I think it might be worth it.
