we were born sick
It has been several weeks since the beginning of fall, and since her coupling with Felony. When he had initially approached her the past summer about wanting her to bear his child, she hadn't been as reluctant as she thought she would be. Past her hated the idea of having children - they were needy and loud and annoying and clingy. Present her still hates the idea, but she knows that she can't complain. Her future relied on her willingness to give Felony what he wanted, and so she sucked it up and said yes. So far, pregnancy wasn't anything like she imagined. Aside from feeling a little bloated, nothing had changed. Of course she knew things would change, the further along she got.

This fall she had stayed confined within the borders of the Lagoon. She knew Felony would be very upset with her if she were to wander off and come across some roaming bachelors looking to woo her. Although he hadn't actually vocalized his displeasure with her drifting, she could tell in the way he often accompanied her and stuck by her side whenever there were other men around. She wasn't stupid - she knew what was going through that head of his, even if he liked to think he was secretive and mysterious.

Thinking of Felony sent a weird tingling feeling through Zhenya and made her feel... warm. While the feeling was actually rather enjoyable, she also found it very irritating. She pushed any thoughts of the tobiano stallion from her mind with a snort. She was foolish to think she might have any sort of... feelings for him. She was here only because he was a good provider, and gave her a place to call home where she knew she would be safe. Although he was handsome and dark and mysterious... and attractive (wait, did she already say that?), she was sure there was nothing between them and never, ever would be. End of story, right?

Sighing, Zhenya moves away from her spot on the beach, heading back towards the center of the Lagoon. Beneath the smell of mud and salt and the distinctive male musk, was the lingering scent of women in heat. While Zhenya had yet to actually encounter any other females in the Lagoon, she knew they were there, somewhere. Being all elusive. Eventually she would run into one of them. It was only a matter of time.
