Dögun
We'll ride in the gathering storm
Dögun dark tipped ears swivel behind him, listening to her even tromp of her hooves on the dirt trail. It was a comfort to know that for this bit of time. he was not alone on patrol. As the near the end of the forest the trail widens, it opens up into a clearing that overlooked the Bay, halting at the edge of the dark pines. His ochre eyes scan the beauty before him, Silver's sweet voice breaks the silence. "No... but I am very intrigued of your story my dear Silver." Than without a moment pause, she dives into her story.
He quietly takes in her story, of humans, and a man named Greyson. As she pauses, he can see the sorrow consuming her. Closing the distance between them, he places his dark muzzle touches her alabaster shoulder. A touch of comfort. She compares her dear Greyson to him. Brave and good.
Yet, at that moment, her story turns for the worst, a death...his death. He could see the pain ripping through her body, it was soon followed by her tears. Drawing his muzzle back, pushes his body into her side, wrapping his neck around her chest, in the best way he could embrace her. He does not speak, he just lets her weep next to him for a loved one that she has lost. She had tried to hide her tears, but they flowed freely from her crystal blue eyes. Her pain was his as well. Now that they were family they would bare her pain as one.
"Silver, I am so sorry. Your Greyson was a brave man. You were not a coward, he wished for you to live. You did the right thing for him. He wished for you to live even though he knew that he wouldn't." He could sense the guilt that riddled her body, but he hoped that she would not blame herself any longer, but he knew deep down it would be hard to let go of.
