Yesterday I was about 1/2 way out the Cameron Ranch Trail (cleared right thru to the back and fabulous for walking) when I happened to look up from 'butterfly watching' and noticed an interesting bird. And then another and another - 9 Night Hawks zipping and darting in the clear blue sky. The Sandhills were calling and didn't 9 of them lift up and start flying in formation. And then in came a pair of Broad-winged Hawks and put on a real show of acrobatics - barrel rolls, free falls, tag - touching each other, and amazing aerials - pure unbounded joy on a superb afternoon. Two nines and a pair of aces. Admission free. Replies:
