Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

I NEVER LOOKED back

Anger.

Rage.

I don’t know what other words are getting close to what I was feeling as I stood on that beach. When Rurisk had driven me from the Bay, I had felt fear. When Skua had taken me from the Lagoon, I’d felt relief. But no. This was different. I had no problems with Sahin. In fact, I loved the man. I had been minding my own business, glad that I could remain home. He had worked things out with the new lead of the Paradise. Then…

I turned a narrowed eye onto the smug stallion. Oh, Mama, forgive me if you’re in Heaven and can see this. If not, well, I’m sure I’ll be able to explain this later. I knew the Lagoon. I knew it all too well - probably better than this colt. Night might make me glow, which had made me a target. But moonlight also made it easy to see him to. I leaned my weight forward and lashed out at him with hooves first. Then with a scream I took steps forward, swung around and went for his face. I didn’t really care what I caught. I wasn’t backing down though. I’d run from him on Atlantis, but I’d had enough time to act now.

I wasn’t afraid of this stallion.

Maybe I was finally old enough to stop being afraid.
