mountain lion in new hampshire IP: 107.3.78.61 Posted on August 21, 2014 at 10:05:35 PM by Erik
I was visiting Pittsburg, New Hampshire this week with my family and went out in the very early morning on Tuesday, August 19 hoping for a moose sighting. I drove almost an hour down old logging roads to an area that was about 15 miles south of the Canadian border and about 5 miles from the Maine/New Hampshire border. The sun had only been up for a little while when there was a break in the morning fog and I decided to drive back out to the main road. My car runs very quiet and I drove slowly in case there were any moose that might be seen. I came over a hill and saw a large feline in the middle of the road about 100 feet ahead of my car. It glanced at me for a split second and then disappeared into the trees along the side of the road. I got a very good look at it. It was around 4 feet long from nose to rump as close as I could judge from the amount of the road it took up. As it entered the brush i got a great look at its amazing tail. I am told they do not live in New Hampshire or in Maine. There is no mistaking what I saw, however. Replies:
