At last, Valentine smiled. It was a small one – barely more than a momentary tug on each corner of his pink-white lips – but it was a smile nonetheless. He was happy to hear her consent, even as quietly as it was given. Friends. He liked that. “Good,” he replied, his expression softening some. His dark eyes met her lovely blue gaze as it rose slowly upwards from the floor. Although Valentine was still very aware of the seriousness of the whole situation, Dock’s little smile was contagious and he could not help but return it properly. He liked to see her happy, even if it was just for a moment. Valentine did not break the pleasant silence – not until he saw the sudden embarrassment overcome his companion and he could not help but chuckle. He nodded at her words, however – it was time he went and found Lyden before he stumbled upon him so close to one of his mares. “I’ll see you around, Dock,” he said softly, smiling as he turned to go. |
