We'll ride in the gathering storm
Pain erupts with each step, it travels the length of his hind leg, he winces in pain. The sight of the herd was comforting, at least he had made it from the battle to here. A bit of guilt washes over him, he had lost, and now Macabre was homeless. If Dexter had cared for her so much, maybe he should of left her be. She had a family here in the Inlet, and now she was alone. Utterly alone, Shiraz was dead, and now she had nobody. As he nears the herd, a pair of fillies approaches, he eyes them warily. He knew how young un's could be and this pair was no different. "I bet you got into a fight with a bush, and the bush won." If he would not of just lost one of his mares, did not have pain exploding through out his body, he might of laughed. But he just stares back at her with ochre eyes, not interested in arguing with her at this moment.
"It was not a bush, you are still to young to understand what happens in a herd." Flicking a single ear towards the dark filly as she speaks, trying to apologize for her friend, he just nods at her. At least one of them chose to have some sort of manners. A familiar set of hoof beats reach his dark tipped ears, Grai.
As he searches the chestnut's face, he finds his look questioning. He probably figured that the fillies were bothering him, he liked the pair, but at this moment...he almost wanted to be left alone. He nods his head slowly, signaling that it was time for the fillies to find Soda. This would perhaps be the best time to talk to Grai alone. "I would like to talk with you in...private." He wanted to fill Grai in with what had happened down on the ashen sands of the Inlet.
