Soljor sighed. Her head on his shoulder felt great. It was nice to share body warmth. The cold hadn’t yet come, but it was soon arriving. He knew that. He was grateful for all his girls. He did wish he spent more time with them - but there were only so many hours in the day. Perhaps he could loosen up a little. Winter was going to settle in and there was need for the herd to keep together.

“Yes,” He said. “There is need for a lead mare. I would have no argument with you taking the position if the others are agreeable.” After all, she did have his first foal. He could understand if she felt entitled to the role. But Soljor would support only the mare the others elected. “Though, I would rather it be settled outside of a fight.” He nuzzled Fly. He didn’t want harm to come to any of his ladies. He had heard of pregnant mares who got into fights and then lost children. He didn’t want that on anyone’s head.

Then Fly mentioned going to the Forest. Soljor looked at her, his ears flicking back and forth ever so slightly. Conflicted was definitely the feeling he had. Lyden had been the lead of the Forest last he checked. He wasn’t so certain he wanted to meet with the stallion again, even if their business had gone quite well.

“You believe your family to be still in the Forest?” He asked. He didn’t want her going alone, without a doubt. “I was under the impression that Lyden was lead there…” He sighed and looked at the bay mare. “If you really want to go, I’ll go with you.” Peaceful, he was just a stallion escorting his pregnant mare. He had his own worries and of course Lyden would understand that he hadn’t come for Caesisus.

Still, Soljor couldn’t help but feel a little awkward about it.
