Soljor glared down at her. Oh, she looked at him with a double whammy of big, bright, innocent eyes. He shook his head. It was hard to resist the adorable look. She was trying to melt his heart. Her apology sounded sincere. Her eyes were wide. He knew fillies just wanted to play.
He snorted and met her eyes. You’re always busy… Yes he was. He had to be. His job was to protect the herd. The only reason she didn’t know the dangers of wolves was his relentless patrols. Adults don’t have play time.
“Luana…” He sighed. “Fine, you can stay with me till we get back to the river. Then it’s right back to your mother, missy. Got it?” The River was a good walk. It was up the beach and then they’d have to follow it back to where the herd slept. Soljor was certain that by the time they got back, Acelynn would be up and then he didn’t have to wake her.
