Arachne

I was still not used to the bitter cold. And when the snow came in it was even worse in my opinion. I found myself hiding deep in the trees most days, watching my stomach when it would wiggle. The life inside my womb was growing bigger by the day, and I couldn’t help but feel overjoyed by the sensation. God, time was going so fast in this pregnancy, and I knew that pain would come before I saw our little bundle of joy, but I didn’t want this time being pregnant to end. The feeling of the kicks and the rolls were so magnificient there were hardly any words to describe it. Except for the simple fact that when it had first occurred, it felt like an alien had taken over my body and was trying to escape.

My thoughts were broken when I heard Soljor calling for the herd. A puff of carbon dioxide formed in front of my face as I shifted my larger than usual form. I moved slow, much slower than usual and that meant that it took me a bit longer to approach him, but when I caught sight of him I nickered, a soft gentle greeting as I drew closer. Extending my nose to his as I came to a stop near him. I felt a bit out of breath and a bit uncomfortable. But I knew that it would only be lasting a short time longer before the little one would join us in this world. A smile graced my lips as I stood there.

Does it stay this cold all winter? I don’t know how you can be used to this.
