those black wings

Unknown

the wing of a falcon brings to the king,

To be alone, to be forgotten and left behind, Crow knew that pain. The disappearance of her true dam and sire had left a darkness in her heart that she could never shake, never forgive or forget in her time of life. It was a festering wound that would never heal, only become deeper and more infected the longer she breathed the sweet air of life. The dark filly had seen the same wound upon Conquistador the moment they had met, had seen the darkness that grew beneath his golden skin.

It is now that the girl stood alone once more, shadowed in the darkness of the jungle's thick vegetation that she sees him as he strides across the sands to stand in the place his true father had died. Crow's black gaze becomes intent as her mind churns with questions on why he is still here. After all that he had faced, after all that had been taken away and all that he was expected to become, the dark girl did not expect him to still be standing here despite the lingering scent of Xina and Mera upon the warm breeze.

Slowly Crow's slender legs pull her maturing body from her hiding place and she eases out into the sunlight. Ears forward and head held slightly higher than her withers, she is unsure if she should join him or not. But as she draws nearer to him that is when the pale stallion’s legs collapse and he falls to the warm grains below.

The sorrow that he feels shows through the posture of his collapsed body and Crow moves again, drawing up next to him. Slowly she lowers her head, reaching out to brush her velvet soft ebony muzzle against his damp cheek to try and wipe away the tears that creep down his face. There are no words for the filly to speak, her dark eyes looking to meet his own golden one's to show him that he was not alone. The strength that lies within her she hopes to share, to help lift him from his sorrow so that maybe it will make him stronger in the end. But for now she will only give him silent support until he was ready for more.
