Arachne
I couldn’t believe how cold it was, and the spring season had just gotten here. Yes, some of the snow had begun to melt, but it was still so cold. It didn’t help that the child within my belly was growing so large that it was getting harder to move around. I knew that any day now I was going to be birthing my first child, and the mere thought of that was terrifying, yet so exciting at the same time. My grey and white body moved slowly through the bay, sticking closer to the inside of the herdland, not wanting to chance being to far out of the main herd area with being so close to foaling. I also knew of the risks of the wild creatures that were around, and I sure as heck was not going to put myself and my child in that kind of danger.
The first twinges of pain made me jerk in surprise, turning my head sharply as I stared at my barrel, trying to figure out if it was the first stages of labor. Another small pain came and I was sure that it meant the child was coming. I started walking around slowly, wondering if it would make things go a bit faster. It certainly worked. It was a few hours before the pains got worse. For those few hours were hell waiting for the labor to progress.
It took a while, but then the pain started to get even worse and I knew, in my heart that it wouldn’t be much longer. I let out a call to Soljor, feeling the urge to push, I laid down. It took but a few minutes, but soon, the white and red filly was here! I struggled to stand for a moment, before turning to the bright chestnut and white female. I worked on cleaning her as she laid on the ground, her head lifted, pale blue-green eyes looked about as she looked up at her mother. I looked up, looking for Soljor’s frame.
