LIVE TO TELL THE TALE

Soljor watched the angry mare. It seemed like Arabians had this temper. Perhaps it had to do with their supposed ‘hot blood.’ Or it had to do with being pregnant. Either way, she was angry. Seemed like Magnus had let the hormones get to him; but a mare who had been covered by force would probably not be here looking to tear an ear off. At least, seeming to have come of her own free will.

“Yes, Magnus is my second,” Soljor said, his voice even. “I was injured earlier this season and have been having him keep an eye on the rougher terrain along our northern border. We’ve been having a bit of a predator problem, so I wanted eyes about to ensure the herd was safe.” He looked at her. Though he was a little worried as he hadn’t heard from Magnus since the herd meeting. He should probably go track him down.

Her next set of statements indicated to him that Magnus had not necessarily acted out of turn. His own situation with Cut up Angel gave him a little insight into that situation. Soljor doubted she’d be here and complaining about him if Magnus had forced himself on her. “No, I do not believe he knows how hard it is to swim pregnant. I do not either for that matter. I would assume it’s a difficult endeavor, for which I’m sure he’ll be estatic to see you here.” He looked at Elexza.

She then continued to talk. It seemed more like she was talking to herself. Soljor patiently waited for her to find a stopping point.

“Well, you are welcome to stay as long as you desire,” Soljor said. “You are also welcome to stay with the rest of the herd in the pine forest and caves. It is a bit warmer in numbers.” He noted that she just intended to use the Bay as a place to raise her child a bit. It didn’t matter too much as long as the child knew its father. Magnus was a good man. “I intend to head up to the northern edge of the territory today. I’ll be inform Magnus as to your presence.” She seemed a little lonely though. Soljor didn't know if she'd desire to continue the conversation longer. He hoped he could at least alleviate some of her anxiety about Magnus' seeming disappearance.
