FROM THE OCEAN SHE RISES

Jörmungandr had not failed to notice Aureila and Azazel's new additions but she chose to leave them be to bond. She had kept a proud and watchful eye on them but the final days of her pregnancy were not the most comfortable  (though miles better than the last time) and she did not want to project that tension onto the foals.

There had been a tinge of worry when she had heard the wolf song, though luckily it was still far enough away and she had been careful to pick an area to give birth completely devoid of the scent of wolf. Still, her father had almost lost his life to a wolf in this very forest after his mother gave birth to him which just showed that you could never be too careful. Jörmungandr was confident that she could channel her granddam and chase a wolf off should she have to though. Luckily, she did not have to.

When she returns to the herd, it does not surprise her to see Lyden immediately move towards them. She can imagine he would have worried with so many possible risks of complications or predator attacks but she is glad he left her to it. Birth is a private affair for a mare and her foal. A small smile finds her lips when she spots Aureila's colt following Lyden - already so adventurous for such a young foal - Aureila would have her hooves full with that one.

Lyden confirms her thoughts as he draws up. She smiled gently, glancing at the filly "She needed to rest a little first before the journey back". If Jörmungandr was honest, she needed the rest too. A squeal from the adventurous colt interupts them and brings a laugh to her lips. The golden filly chirps curiously at the sound. Jörmungandr dipped her head down to meet the boy's gesture, huffing a gentle breath. Her ears swivel at Lyden's words and she smiles amusedly as the boy plants himself down with Jökulrós. "He is certainly bold" and fearless, she thought. Such qualities would make him a good band stallion when he was grown but could get him into a lot of danger while he was still young and fragile. "You will have to keep an eye on that one".

When the golden boy curls up beside Jökulrós, the stockinged girl squeaks in a mixture of curiosity and confusion. She reaches over to him, sniffing at him with interest. She glances at her mother who does not seem bothered so can see no reason to be afraid. Before she can inspect him further though the pale stallion's nose brushes over her and she squeals in surprise but quickly settles into curious chirps when she realises he is nothing to be afraid of either. Suitably worn out, she yawns and leans into Alexander, resting her head on his back.

Jörmungandr chuckles at the girl's reaction, ears leaning forwards at Lyden's words. "I had the same thought but it appears to just be a marking. I have not seen anything like it before" She finds it very odd but pretty all the same.
