Soljor was still worried. Stardust had now seen the mysterious predator and anything that could take on a pack of wolves was something to be concerned about. The creature she had described to him was something similar to a bear — a creature he had seen before. Although, it was far larger than any bear he had heard of. But, the creature had not appeared closer to the herd, but Soljor was careful all the same. Arachne and Acelynn had dropped and keeping an eye on the rather immobile Cut up Angel was getting tiring.

He noticed Fly’s absence early in the morning and suspected the reason. But the wolves had been keeping to themselves so while he remained alert, he would give Fly her space. Mares and birth were none of his business. It was a while though, a disturbing while, before he heard footsteps and was alerted to Fly’s return. He was glad and a little startled to see such a light filly walking tiredly behind her. Maybe his mother’s golden color had skipped a generation.

“Fly,” He called, trotting forward to greet her with a quick bump on the nose. “I was starting to get a little worried.” His eyes went to the little filly. “Now where did she come from?” His voice was light and teasing. He knew. He reached his nose down at the little filly who had collapsed from exhaustion. He blew a large, warm breath at her forehead, taking the time to add her scent to his memory.

But another scent found its way to his nose as he lifted up his head again. His eyes darted around. He thought he’d smelled Mercury nearby. She’d been avoiding the herd lately it seemed. He’d like to involve her a bit more. He had given her her space after Felony had taken Caliber. He thought she’d warm up but it seemed like this cut was deeper than he thought.
