Dögun relaxes his hind hoof, as a few minutes pass his body follows suit. He could feel the soreness spreading throughout his muscles, he knew that tomorrow, he would be stiff and sore, probably lucky if he would be able to make it to his feet. A sigh escapes his lips, all of the pain, for what? To lose? He focuses his attention back on Grai, his ears swivel catching the promise that Grai made. If it were to happen again, he knew that Grai would defend their home.
"It happened so quickly, but now that I know that I can call on you. I will, call on you for your assistance." He pauses, thinking over why Dexter wanted Macabre in particular.
"Honestly, Grai. I am not sure why he even wanted her. Perhaps they had some kind of history together."
He sighs a frustrated sort of sigh, one that shows his irritation with the whole outcome of the battle. As their conversation turns to Shiraz, he can feel the pain welling in his chest. The dispair washes over him, he turns his face away from Grai, focusing on a distant stand of dark pine trees.
"He was sick, Grai. I was there, when Macabre, left him. Writhing in the grass, the pain of death was closing in on him. She had been there only moments before I arrived, I wanted to be there until he took his last breath. But..." His voice trails off. K1A1 had shown up, she had pushed him away. The pain and the vivid memories were to much for him. His knees begin to shake. His muscles quiver beneath his grullo coat.
"Grai, can we move to the forest where I can lay down and recoup from the battle."
With the remaining bit of his strength, he hobbles through the clearing, his eyes trained on the tree line. He could not bring himself to look at the mares as he hobbled by them.
