We'll ride in the gathering storm

The Inlet herd was tucked away in a small clearing, a brook babbles along one side of their hideaway. There was ample room for the herd to spread out, finding their own shoots of grasses to munch away on. The grullo grazed alone on along the top tree line, his ears ever swiveling, listening to the quiet within the woods. Every once in a while, a breeze would stir up the branches, sending them creaking and cracking. A content sigh escapes his dark lips, than he continues to chew the blades of grass. The sky explodes in an array of gilded hues and pinks, the grullo stops to admire the beauty that was set before him.

With each passing minute the warmth from the sun, washes over the clearing. It warms the backs of the horses grazes, shining light onto the sleeping forms of a few of the foals. As his ochre eyes wander, they fall on Freya, near her slept their son. A smile spreads across his lips, his first born son. He raises his head to try to catch a better glimpse of Björn, but something else drew his attention. A movement within the woods, a worried snort escapes his nostrils. After the stories that Soljor had told him, he had been put on edge. His anxiety pricks at his hide, stirring from his lookout, he trots in the direction of the woods.

His hooves barely touch the ground, as he nears the tree line, his ochre eyes stare into the darkness of the forest. His nostrils testing the breezes that floated around him, after a few tense minutes, he sighs in relief. It was Asha. He had hardly seen the dappled mare since that night, he figured that he would give her space, until she decided otherwise. He begins to smile, he could not help but feel this way. Perhaps she would be able to adjust to a life here in the Inlet. As she ventures closer, he clears his throat, just in case that she hadn't seen him standing there. "Would you like to join me? I could show you around the Inlet, unless you wanted to meet the others in the herd?"
