...And DJ has always been a great qualifier. He is smooth and is able to carry more turn speed than just about anyone. There were two phenomenal drivers qualifying identical cars, DJ and Davey Hamilton. Davey turned a great time at 14.4 and DJ turned a fantastic time at 14.0. Unfortunately the track record is really only within reach once per year. The big car count of the Main Event weekend means lots of rubber on the track and the cool/dry October weather means everyone gets about 20 free horsepower as compared to the Hy-Miler in July. It's not rocket science.
