Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

MAY THE FIRST BITE YOU IN THE BACK

For someone who, up until a short time ago, had no home, Geirdriful had not done a lot of exploring. She had mostly kept to the meadow, exploring the commons and falls briefly before taking up residence in the peak - away from her family. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy their company, she just felt her services could be better utilised in the peak - not that she really knew what was expected or required of her. She had had a brief conversation with Black Heart Machine, one that left her with a thirst to learn more, and had been taking a few lessons from her cousin, Reginleif. Geirdriful wasn't certain that Reginleif actually cared to teach her but she did so regardless and the dun filly was grateful.

Black Heart Machine had mentioned witnessing the world for herself so, as the sun began to peep over the horizon, Geirdriful made the decision to go out and explore. The islands where the band stallions stayed seemed so far away and in a way, she wasn't keen to see them. She had heard about the inequality and oppression that was rife in the bands and although she did not fear seeing it, she did not really want to see it. Instead, she chose to visit the much less offensive lagoon.

No one had really told her anything about the lagoon other than there was a band of stallions that lived there with a few mares. The way she saw it, the bachelors were probably as oppressed as the mares in the band herds and sought to fight such oppression. She couldn’t fathom why the peak mares would try to steal lagoon mares who fought the oppression with the bachelors. Sure, the peak needed more able bodied fighters in their ranks but surely joining forces with the lagoon would serve a better purpose. Just because the peak is fighting inequality against mares doesn't mean the stallions can't help. Geirdriful found it all very hypocritical - why fight for equality for all mares but throw the bachelors to the wolves?

Still thinking it all very silly, the yearling made her way over the border of the lagoon. Her blue eyes sweeped the tall grass, certain that she would spot a weasel and would then rub it in Lion Eye's face should she ever see him again. She was quite sure he hadn't believed her when she said weasels must reside in the lagoon too and Geirdriful didn't like to be wrong no matter how much time had passed. If she was a weasel, she'd stay in the lagoon. It was much more preferable than being holed up on a thin-aired mountain top. Sure, it made her sound like a badass living up there with the rest of the warrior women but it was kind of boring. It also didn't have such the juicy, green grass or the warm, lagoon water she now stood knee deep in. Sure, the peak had a view - a great view - but it was a view that reminded her how tiny everyone seemed in this great big world. The lagoon, on the other hand, had the view of the ocean and clear turquoise water. She rather envied the women, and even the men, of the lagoon.
