Bright shades of reds and pinks blossomed on nearly every tree of my father’s home. Red round apples hung from most of them aside from pinecones that would come during fall, at least to my understanding they would. Father taught me that apples are sweet and much different than anything else you can find here in the forest, other than those purple flower things that had a sweet taste much like the apples when you ate them. Personally I preferred the apples over grass or flowers because it tasted better.

Near me basking in the warmth of the sun stood my mother grazing idly as the minutes drug onward while we waited for whatever it was we were. My father had been busy patrolling the borders and taking care of the herd drama that I swore someday when I became king I’d make sure everyone got along and all those who lived with me, wanted to be with me and not run around doing other things.

A chestnut stripe catches my attention of my sister as she bounded around near her bald faced mother along with a cream sister who is near her own ebony mom. Wrinkling my nostrils I glance back at my mom and nicker to her before I leaped forward with a playful buck and squealed as I sped past where we had been standing and headed towards my siblings. Now at the time I thought rushing towards them and try to get them to play sounded like a marvelous plan! But as I got closer It dawned on me that their mothers may not appreciate me bugging them again and so I slammed my butt into the dirt making puffs fly all around me as I called to my siblings and anyone else who wanted to play.
