Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

the ancestor's relic

Few words passed between the two stallions as they left the falls and entered into the lagoon. That suited Olaf just fine and from what he could tell, suited the lagoon man just as well. The painted stallion explained that that the lagoon normally required two colts for one mare but would settle for one in this instance. He said it was for act of good fortune but Olaf suspected perhaps that was not the full story. So long as the mare didn’t prove to be a liability to the rest of the herd though, he was probably getting a good deal.

Olaf nodded to the departing lagoon stallion, ”Takk, a colt will be sent as soon as one is weaned.” As the stallion left, Olaf took a moment to look the roan mare over. While some may dismiss her as old, she was still in her prime and likely had a good deal of life experience under her belt which could be useful to the herd. Despite what Felony might believe, she was more than likely still perfectly capable of producing live and healthy offspring without incident. Of course, Olaf would most probably not be bothering her with such attempts unless she came to him – which judging by the look in her eye wouldn’t be anytime soon, if ever.

There was a challenge in her stance, a challenge he would have no problem meeting but the look in her eye suggested she might give him more trouble than the average stubborn mare. Had he been like many of the other stallions on the islands, he might have tried to sweet talk her but Olaf wasn’t much of a talker. Olaf believed that actions spoke louder than words. He also didn’t believe in wasting time.

Flicking his ears back into the tangle of his ebony mane - still damp from the swim from Salem- he moved in a swift arc to try and get into a herding position. If she tried to remain facing him, he would angle himself toward her hip, pushing his weight against her barrel to force her round. From there he would push her on, with a feigned snap of his jaws. If she called his bluff, and still refused to cooperate, he would not be afraid to make actual contact.
