I was a rogue.
While not incredibly subtle (not to mention my color didn't help), I did my best not to be noticed by stallions, as I had a mission in mind: Acquire mares. Theft was never my strong suit, but I knew that I would have to fight for what I wanted. I knew I would have to be sneaky, at least for a short while. After all, nothing worth having ever came easy.. That is what
she had taught me.
My ears flick back and forward once more. I heard movement. Then I saw it. I saw a potential target, a straggler from the family. I was not a young and over eager boy. I watched for a while; she seemed injured. While not my first choice, she had been the first that had ventured far enough away. Decisively I moved. I marched with purpose until I came upon her. When I came upon her, she slept.
Originally, I had intended to drive this mare into the sea toward Salem, but as I watched her... I had a change of heart. So I stood quietly by her, watching and guarding. She may not have been mine, but I still needed to feed my instinct and duty. I had my doubts that she could make the swim anyway.
A breeze sighed past me, taking with it tattered bits of mangled mane and tail. I hardly noticed the falling rain, though. The sea roared and water pattered down on the world around them.
